4th phase of Pak-China Naval Exercise ‘Sea Guardian’ kicks off

A Chinese naval vessel, PLA Navy Ship Daqing, arrived in Karachi to participate in the fourth Pakistan–China joint exercise Sea Guardian IV, taking place from March 25 to April 2, 2026. The exercise includes harbour and sea-phase activities such as seminars, gunnery drills, and coordinated patrols, aimed at enhancing interoperability and professional exchange between the two navies. It reflects the growing strategic partnership between Pakistan and China and their shared commitment to regional maritime security and stability.

KARACHI: A Chinese naval vessel, PLA Navy Ship Daqing, arrived in Karachi on Wednesday to take part in the fourth edition of the Pakistan-China joint naval exercise Sea Guardian IV, scheduled from March 25 to April 2, 2026.

The Pakistan Navy accorded the visiting ship a warm ceremonial welcome, with naval vessels escorting it into port in a display of traditional maritime hospitality.

The bilateral exercise aims to deepen cooperation between the two navies through enhanced interoperability and the exchange of professional expertise, underscoring their shared commitment to regional peace and maritime security.

According to officials, the drills will include both harbour and sea-phase activities such as expert-level engagements, a young officers’ seminar on contemporary maritime challenges, gunnery exercises, coordinated patrols, and a range of operational manoeuvres.

The Sea Guardian series has become a key platform for strengthening defence ties between Pakistan and China, reflecting their growing strategic partnership and mutual focus on maintaining stability in regional waters.

The latest iteration is expected to further boost coordination between the two sides and contribute to a secure maritime environment in the region.
