Gwadar to accelerate industrial & economic activities in Pakistan: Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has urged the business community to explore the investment opportunities in Gwadar and Balochistan. During his address at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Chairman asserted that Gwadar is set to become a hub of industrial and investment activities in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak has urged Japan to invest in the maritime and industrial manufacturing sectors under CPEC. On the other hand, Pak-Japan Business Council (PJBC) has expressed willingness to invest $100 million in industrial zones in Pakistan.
KARACHI: Gwadar is emerging as the new port city of Pakistan and it is destined to become a hub of industrial and investment activities, therefore the business community should gear itself up to fully capitalise on the emerging opportunities in Gwadar and Balochistan said, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.
Speaking at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he said that Gwadar offered great prospects for businessmen and investors and urged them to focus on the emerging port city to get lucrative returns. He further termed the business community backbone of the economy citing that its problems should be addressed on priority basis to steer ease of doing business in the country.
“The way local business community has fought back against the impact of Covid-19 is appreciable and it showed their resilience to survive in tough conditions.”
September 10, 2020: Pak-Japan Business Council (PJBC) is keen to invest at least $100 million in industrial zones in Pakistan in line with the interest of Japanese government and private sector to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, its top official said.
Rana Abid Hussain, president of PJBC told the News that the Japan-based nonprofit association would put the investment pan before Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar who’s scheduled to visit Japan in the last week of this month.
“We will discuss the plan of investment in the Punjab’s industrial zone with the governor during his upcoming visit,” said Hussain. “Japanese investors are interested to capitalise on investment opportunities apart from projects related to CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor).”
