CPEC Authority act ratified by the cabinet
The federal cabinet has ratified the newly-drafted CPEC Authority Act and now, the law will be presented in the National Assembly. Earlier, the Cabinet Committee on the Disposal of the Legislative Cases (CCLC) had approved a draft law pertaining to the CPEC Authority. The law proposes the abolishment of the CEO position for CPEC Authority, reduction in the powers of CPEC Authority chairman in decision making, and an end to the authority’s powers to constitute a business council. It is worthy to note that the CPEC Authority was established through CPEC Authority Ordinance 2019 on 5th October 2019 for the purpose of coordination, evaluation, and monitoring of CPEC-related activities across the country.
