Huawei Technologies and GIK Institute Agree to Promote Information Communication Technologies in Pakistan

The Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and the Chinese tech giant, Huawei Pakistan has signed an agreement to collaborate in the field of information and communication technology (ICT). Wangxuesong, head of Services and Training, Huawei Pakistan, met with Jehangir Bashar, GIK Institute Rector. These two groups are cooperating to viaduct the ICT knowledge, and skills gap through the Huawei ICT Academy established at the GIK Institute. The academy offers a chance to GIK students to learn industrial technologies and become Huawei certified and grow in their careers.

SWABI: The Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and the Chinese technology company, Huawei Pakistan, here the other day agreed to strengthen collaboration in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).

It was revealed by officials of the two organisations when Wangxuesong, head of Services and Trainings, Huawei Pakistan, called on GIK Institute Rector Jehangir Bashar.

Dr Ghulam Abbas, director Huawei ICT Academy, GIK Institute, Dr Raja Hashim, assistant professor, GIK Institute, Bilal Qasim and Ms Ding Lan of Huawei’s ICT Talent Ecosystem Development Unit, and Saqib Shafiq, technical service director, Huawei Enterprise Business, were also present on the occasion.

The two organisations are currently working together to bridge the ICT knowledge and skills gap through the Huawei ICT Academy established at the GIK Institute. The academy offers the institute students an opportunity to learn the latest industrial technologies and become Huawei certified in support of their subsequent careers.

During the meeting, Mr Bashar called for expanding the WiFi blanket at the institute in collaboration with Huawei. Directives were issued to the concerned departments of both the organisations to make progress in this direction.

Mr Wangxuesong and Mr Bashar agreed to sign an MoU for working together to develop a new model for artificial intelligence education to foster the talent in Pakistan.

Later, Huawei conducted an ICT Competition Road Show at the Institute and interacted with students.
