PM Shehbaz welcomes China’s interest to invest in Pakistan’s nuclear energy sector
A delegation of China National Nuclear Corporation, led by Vice Chairman Liu Jing called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said expansion of strategic relations between Pakistan and China is a testament to the decades-long friendship between the two countries. He said the inauguration of the K-3 Power Project in Karachi is also a reflection of further stability in China-Pakistan relations. Shehbaz Sharif said this power plant will not only meet the growing electricity needs of Pakistan, but will also provide low cost and environment friendly electricity. He said it will also play a key role in the long-term economic development of Pakistan. During the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed that China is interested in increasing investment in the nuclear energy sector in Pakistan and meetings in this connection at the delegation level will be started soon.
ISLAMABAD, Feb 3 (APP): China is interested in doing investment in Pakistan’s nuclear energy sector and delegation-level talks in this regard will be held in near future.
This was informed in a meeting held between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a delegation of China National Nuclear Corporation led by Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese embassy Pang Chunxue.
The meeting was also joined by federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, and Khurram Dastagir, PM’s Adviser Ahad Cheema, and Special Assistants Tariq Fatemi, Tariq Bajwa, and Jahanzeb Khan.
The prime minister welcomed the interest shown by China to invest in the country’s nuclear energy sector.
He mentioned that the inauguration of K-3, the third unit of Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUP) yesterday with the assistance of China, would help Pakistan overcome its energy needs.
He said the strategic relationship between Pakistan and China spanned over decades and would continue to strengthen with time.
