PM Shehbaz inaugurates 1650MW coal-fired electricity generation projects in Thar
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari jointly inaugurated 1650 Mega Watts Shanghai Electric Thar and Thal Nova Thar projects in Tharparkar. The projects, including 1,320 megawatt Shanghai Electric Thar and 330 megawatt Thal Nova Thar will annually generate 11.24 billion units of low-cost electricity. Through the direct investment of 3.53 billion us dollars into these projects, the production of coal-based electricity of Thar will increase up to 3,300 megawatt. The projects, which were abandoned during the last four years, are being made operational on the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Built with a total direct investment of 3.53 billion dollars, these coal-fired projects will annually generate 11.24 billion units of low-cost electricity.
