Beijing signals readiness to upgrade CPEC in partnership with Islamabad

In a recent development, China has affirmed its commitment to working alongside Pakistan to elevate the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and strengthen their enduring bilateral ties. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin, speaking during a briefing on Wednesday, highlighted China’s willingness to collaborate with Pakistan in fulfilling essential common goals set by the leaders of both nations. The spokesperson also disclosed that the Chinese minister participated in the fourth meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination, co-chairing the event with Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Syrus Sajjad Qazi.

Wang Wenbin emphasized the enduring strategic partnership between China and Pakistan, referring to them as “all-weather strategic cooperative partners.” The spokesperson acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the One-China principle. Furthermore, China expressed its unwavering support for Pakistan’s endeavors in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and promoting stability, development, and prosperity.
