Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman attends Chinese new year celebrations

The Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) celebrated the Chinese New Year in Lahore with a cultural event, co-hosted by the Information and Culture Department. Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman, the chief guest, highlighted the significant economic engagement between the two countries through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Other dignitaries, including the Consul General of China in Lahore and the Housing Minister, expressed their felicitations and emphasized the deepening mutual trust, respect, and cultural ties between Pakistan and China. The PCJCCI president, Moazzam Ghurki, emphasized that CPEC serves as a robust foundation for economic, commercial, and cultural connectivity between the two nations.

LAHORE : Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) celebrated Chinese New Year in collaboration with Information and Culture Department by conducting a cultural event here Friday.

The chief guest of the event was Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman. Other guests of honour included Consul General of China in Lahore, Zhao Shiren; Housing Minister Syed Azfar Ali Nasir; Consul General of Turkiye in Lahore, Durmus Bastug; Additional Secretary, Information & Culture Department Tariq Ali Basra and PCJCCI President Moazzam Ghurki. Punjab Governor felicitating the Chinese government and people on new year said the two countries are undoubtedly tied with the largest economic engagement– CPEC which will prove instrumental to change the whole situation.

He said that he believed such initiatives of PCJCCI would definitely deepen mutual trust between the two nations, and it would strengthen the communication and cultural ties. Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Punjab Syed Azfar Ali Nasir extended greetings to the people and leadership of China on new year. Zhao Shiren, Consul General of China in Lahore, said that the bilateral relationship between the two countries was characterised by feelings of mutual trust, respect and goodwill towards each other. ‘I regard China Pakistan Economic Corridor not only the road to economic prosperity of Pakistan, but will also strengthen the social growth and emotional bond between both nations’, the envoy said. Tariq Ali Basra, Additional Secretary, Information & Culture Department (Punjab) shared, ‘We tried to showcase the rich culture of Pakistan by organising live exhibition of handicrafts by the artisans, depiction of Pakistan’s culture through various instrumental and other performances.’

Moazzam Ghurki, President PCJCCI, said CPEC is the strongest pillar of economic, commercial and cultural connectivity between Pakistan and China.
