Ambassador Jiang Zaidong meets Minister Jam Kamal to boost bilateral economic cooperation

In a key step to boost economic ties, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan in Islamabad, accompanied by a senior diplomatic delegation. The ambassador praised Pakistan’s recent economic reforms and leadership, highlighting improvements in GDP, inflation, and investor confidence. Both sides held in-depth discussions on expanding bilateral trade and investment, particularly in emerging sectors, and reaffirmed their commitment to deeper economic integration, sustainable trade, and regional connectivity.

ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to reinforce economic collaboration between Pakistan and China, Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, called on Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan at the Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad today.

Ambassador Jiang was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior diplomats including Yang Guangyuan and Xu Hangtian, both Minister Counselors; Wang Cun, Second Secretary; Zhang Datuo, Third Secretary; and Attachés Liu Lezhen, Yang Dapeng, and Wang Jingjiu.

During the meeting, the Chinese ambassador commended Pakistan’s recent economic reforms and the government’s strategic policy initiatives. He praised the country’s accelerating economic recovery, citing marked improvements in GDP growth, reduced inflation, and rising investor confidence. The ambassador also acknowledged the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in steering the economy towards stability and long-term development.

The two sides held a comprehensive discussion focused on enhancing bilateral trade and investment. They reviewed the current state of Pakistan-China economic relations and explored avenues for future cooperation, with a particular focus on emerging sectors.

Both parties reiterated their commitment to deepening economic integration, promoting sustainable trade practices, and encouraging the exchange of goods, services, and expertise. They agreed to maintain close coordination and regular communication to ensure the effective execution of existing initiatives and the identification of new opportunities for collaboration.

The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to pursue inclusive growth, strengthen regional connectivity, and foster enduring prosperity for both nations.
