Labs, Scholarships, and Shared Science: Pakistan–China Team Up on Marine and Environmental Research
Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (Balochistan) and Shandong University (Weihai) agreed to pursue joint research, academic exchanges, and scholarship opportunities in marine and environmental sciences planning to formalize the partnership via an MoU after LUAWMS’ delegation, led by VC Dr. Abdul Malik, visited SDU and the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory in Guangzhou to scope collaboration.
ISLAMABAD – A high-level delegation of Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Balochistan, recently visited Shandong University, Weihai, China, to explore avenues for long-term research collaboration in the fields of marine and environmental sciences.
The LUAWMS delegation was led by Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Malik, the university said, according to Gwadar Pro.
Vice President SDU Weihai Campus Dr Xia Lidong headed the SDU team during a meeting with the LUAWMS delegation, it added.
The partnership aims to promote joint research projects, academic exchange programmes and scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students to advance knowledge and innovation in marine and environmental sciences, it said.
This collaboration will enhance LUAWMS’s research capabilities and contribute to addressing pressing environmental and marine challenges in the region.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in near future, the LUAWMS said.
The delegation also visited Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory, Guangzhou, China, to explore avenues for research collaboration in marine and environmental sciences.
During the meeting, both institutions reached an understanding to formalize partnership by signing a MoU in near future, the LUAWMS said.
