CPBF to further boost B2B linkages between Pakistani, Chinese entrepreneurs

Lt Gen (r) Abdul Qayyum, Chief Patron of the China Pakistan Business Forum (CPBF), emphasized strengthening business-to-business (B2B) ties between Pakistani and Chinese entrepreneurs to boost bilateral trade and investment. Leading a delegation of Chinese investors to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he proposed forming a permanent joint committee to enhance trade cooperation. ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood highlighted the focus of CPEC Phase-II on exports, renewable energy, digital economy, and youth training, announcing plans for an international investment conference. Sheikh Ejaz Asghar, Co-Chairman CPBF, proposed co-hosting a major investment conference with ICCI, while Chinese investors expressed commitment to supporting Pakistan’s industrial and economic growth.

ISLAMABAD – Lt General (r) Abdul Qayyum, Chief Patron of the China Pakistan Business Forum (CPBF), has stressed the need to further strengthen business-to-business (B2B) linkages between Pakistani and Chinese entrepreneurs to enhance bilateral trade and investment for mutual benefit.

He stated this during a visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) while leading a large delegation of Chinese investors along with Sheikh Ejaz Asghar, Co-Chairman CPBF. The delegation included Guan Yinkui, President CPBF Yuncheng City China; Guo Peng, Chairman China Medical Industry; Mr Zhang, Medical Industry; Mr Wan, Cash & Carry and Departmental Store; Ms He, Secretary General CPBF, Shijiazhuang Office China; Mr Cuihao; Mr Zhangzeping; and Mr. Xiongpeixin of Hebei Bashi Supply Chain Company. Abdul Qayyum said that the visit is a follow-up to the B2B meetings held by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to China, aimed at translating those discussions into practical outcomes. He proposed the establishment of a permanent joint committee comprising leading entrepreneurs from both countries, to be headed by the ICCI, for continuous engagement on trade and investment issues.

In his welcome address, Sardar Tahir Mehmood, President ICCI, said the Chamber is working actively to expand Pakistan-China economic cooperation through regular B2B interactions. Highlighting the importance of Phase-II of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said it focuses on exports, digital economy, renewable energy, regional connectivity, and mineral development, besides investing in youth through scholarships and technical training. He added that under this phase, over ten thousand Pakistani youth will receive training in China to acquire cutting-edge technology that will surely boost Pakistan’s production and exports. Sardar Tahir Mehmood further informed that ICCI is planning to host an international investment conference to showcase Pakistan’s export and tourism potential and attract foreign investment. Sheikh Ejaz Asghar, Co-Chairman CPBF, appreciated ICCI’s role in strengthening business linkages and suggested that ICCI should organize a major investment conference in collaboration with CPBF, assuring that over 100 Chinese companies would participate in the conference. He also urged ICCI to take a lead role, with support of FPCCI, in establishing a modern Expo Center in Islamabad to host exhibitions and trade fairs.

The visiting Chinese investors reaffirmed their commitment to contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth by investing in industrial upgradation, production enhancement, and employment generation. The meeting was also attended by Executive Members Zulqurnain Abbasi, Raja Naveed Satti, Mohammad Waseem Chaudhry, Imran Minhas, and ICCI Member Zeeshan Mehmood.
