GCUF signs MoU to establish Pakistan’s First Botanical Garden
The Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, signed a landmark MoU with the Lushan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to develop Pakistan’s first botanical garden dedicated to environmental education and scientific tourism. During his visit to China for the 5th Belt and Road China–Pakistan Agriculture Forum, he also inked a major MoU with Huazhong Agricultural University to boost cooperation in agricultural and biological sciences through joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative international projects. The forum’s opening ceremony featured remarks from HZAU President Prof. Yan Jianbing on strengthening Belt and Road academic ties, while Pakistan’s Ambassador Khalil Hashmi praised the enduring Pakistan–China partnership. Prof. Rauf-i-Azam reaffirmed GCUF’s focus on internationalization and invited Chinese scholars to work with GCUF, encouraging his own university’s faculty and students to engage in academic and research activities in Wuhan and other leading Chinese institutions.
ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP):The Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), Prof. Dr Rauf-i-Azam signed a landmark memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lushan Botanical Garden, operating under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, aiming to establish Pakistan’s first botanical garden for environmental education, and scientific tourism.
The MoU was signed during his ongoing official visit to China where he is participating in the 5th Belt and Road China–Pakistan Agriculture Forum at the invitation of Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), Wuhan, said a press release here on Thursday.
“Prof. Dr Rauf-i-Azam also signed a significant MoU with Huazhong Agricultural University to enhance collaboration in agricultural and biological sciences. The agreement covers joint research and teaching initiatives, exchange of faculty and postgraduate scholars, shared supervision frameworks, and joint applications for international research projects,” it added.
The opening ceremony was addressed by Prof. Yan Jianbing, President of HZAU, who emphasized the importance of strengthening Belt and Road academic cooperation.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, commended the longstanding Pakistan–China friendship and appreciated HZAU’s initiatives for promoting joint research.
In his address, Prof. Dr Rauf-i-Azam highlighted GCUF’s commitment to internationalization and invited Chinese students and researchers to collaborate with GCUF in Faisalabad.
He also encouraged GCUF faculty and students to participate in academic and research activities in Wuhan and other leading Chinese institutions.
