Pakistan, China to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties with major celebrations

ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar yesterday reviewed proposals to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties with China. The DPM chaired a high-level meeting to review ongoing Pakistan-China cooperation and finalize preparatory plans for the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, to be commemorated in 2026.
According to a Foreign Office statement, Dar called for celebrating the milestone in a befitting, substantive and future-focused manner that reflects the depth, trust and strategic character of the Pakistan–China partnership. He underscored that the anniversary presents an important opportunity to highlight achievements across political, economic, defence, cultural and technological cooperation.
The participants of the meeting presented a range of proposals designed to meaningfully mark the historic occasion, including initiatives that would showcase the enduring friendship and shared development vision of the two countries, particularly under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The ideas discussed also aimed to enhance people-to-people exchanges and broaden collaboration in emerging sectors. Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant government departments attended the meeting.
