Pakistan reiterates support for One-China policy

Pakistan reaffirmed its firm commitment to the One-China principle, reiterating that it considers Taiwan an inalienable part of China. Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrab emphasized Pakistan’s continued adherence to this policy, highlighting the iron-clad friendship and all-weather strategic partnership with China, and reaffirmed Islamabad’s consistent support for Beijing on issues related to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including Taiwan.

Pakistan on Friday reaffirmed its firm commitment to the One-China principle, stating that it regards Taiwan as an inalienable part of China.

Responding to media queries on recent developments in the Taiwan Strait, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrab said Pakistan would continue to adhere to the One-China policy.

“We will continue to adhere to the One-China principle and regard Taiwan as an inalienable part of China,” the spokesperson said.

He underscored the close ties between the two countries, describing Pakistan and China as “iron-clad friends and all-weather strategic cooperative partners”. He added that Pakistan consistently supports China on issues related to its core national interests, including Taiwan.

The statement reiterates Islamabad’s long-standing position in support of Beijing on matters concerning China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
