ISLAMABAD – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal) Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on Monday congratulated China and Pakistan on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, describing the enduring partnership as “truly exemplary”.
In a statement issued to mark the occasion, Mr Haideri said the relationship between Islamabad and Beijing had stood the test of time, steadily deepening across political, economic and strategic domains over the past seven and a half decades.
He described the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a landmark initiative for Pakistan’s economy, voicing confidence that the multi-billion-dollar project would usher in sustained economic growth and prosperity.
“The longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China has been instrumental in advancing CPEC and strengthening broader bilateral cooperation,” he said.
Referring to recent regional tensions involving the United States and Iran, Mr Haideri commended China’s diplomatic posture, characterising it as that of a “responsible superpower” that sought to defuse tensions rather than escalate them.
“China has once again played the role of a problem-solver instead of becoming part of the dispute,” he remarked.
Mr Haideri added that Beijing’s constructive engagement had also created diplomatic space for Pakistan to contribute to efforts aimed at easing strains between Washington and Tehran. He described the joint role of Pakistan and China in facilitating de-escalation as “an important chapter” in their longstanding partnership.
Recalling last year’s tensions between Pakistan and India, the JUI-F leader said China had acted with responsibility as a major regional power, undertaking effective diplomatic efforts at the international level to help reduce tensions in South Asia.
He said his party viewed China’s regional and global role with “appreciation and respect”.
Expressing optimism about the future, Mr Haideri said Pakistan and China were poised to further expand cooperation in the fields of technology, economy and development, as the two countries commemorate 75 years of diplomatic ties.
