Pakistan-China trade, investment relations reaching new heights: Zubair Tufail
President of the United Business Group (UBG), Zubair Tufail, said the 75-year Pakistan-China relationship has grown into a strong economic partnership, with bilateral trade reaching about US$24 billion and CPEC attracting over US$25 billion in direct investment. He highlighted CPEC’s role in creating more than 75,000 jobs, adding 8,000 MW to Pakistan’s power grid, and advancing infrastructure development. Tufail called for accelerating CPEC’s second phase through greater focus on Special Economic Zones, industrial cooperation, technology, agriculture, mining, e-commerce, and green energy, while emphasizing Gwadar Port’s potential as a regional trade hub and urging stronger private-sector collaboration to boost exports and investment.
