China donates 300,000 doses of veterinary vaccines to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — In an effort to support Pakistan’s livestock industry, the Chinese government has donated 300,000 high-quality doses of veterinary vaccines to Pakistan.

Addressing a handover ceremony held on Wednesday at the National Agricultural Research Center in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the veterinary vaccines donated by China once again demonstrate the profound friendship between Pakistan and China and the close cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural field.

“Agriculture is the cornerstone of Pakistan’s economic development and an important component of the upgraded Version 2.0 of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), while livestock farming is an indispensable part of Pakistan’s agricultural system,” he said.

Speaking highly of China’s experience in livestock development, the minister said that Chinese expertise in veterinary services, agricultural research, biotechnology, and animal disease prevention and control is remarkable, while hoping to benefit from it through strengthened bilateral cooperation.

Pakistan cherishes its traditional friendship with China and will continue to be committed to deepening agricultural cooperation between the two countries to benefit farmers and rural areas in both countries, he added.

In his speech, Shi Yuanqiang, charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, said that livestock farming is a traditional competitive sector and a pillar of Pakistan’s rural economy, building a solid foundation and enormous development potential.

The leaders of both China and Pakistan attach great importance to agricultural cooperation, making agriculture one of the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, he said, adding that China’s experience, models, and achievements in livestock development can provide valuable lessons for Pakistan.

It is hoped that this donation of veterinary vaccines will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between China and Pakistan in the livestock sector, continuously deepen practical agricultural cooperation, and constantly benefit the people of both countries, he said.
