Ahsan Chairs 81st meeting to review progress on the CPEC projects
The 81st meeting to review progress on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects was held in Islamabad, chaired by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal. Key developments across infrastructure, energy, agriculture, SEZs, and Gwadar were discussed. A Chinese delegation is expected soon to assess the Karakoram Highway project’s financial feasibility. The Minister stressed readiness for the upcoming 14th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting, urging ministries to submit progress reports and actionable proposals, including the potential extension of CPEC to Afghanistan. Issues like power supply for SEZs, copper smelting feasibility in Chaghi, and Gwadar’s desalination plant were also reviewed.
