Ahsan Iqbal proposes five political corridors to strengthen Pakistan-China ties

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has proposed five political cooperation corridors between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Pakistani political parties to complement CPEC 2.0’s five economic corridors. The proposed areas include strategic dialogue, governance and development, youth and leadership development, cultural connectivity, and regional peace and cooperation. He also suggested reciprocal youth exchanges, including structured learning opportunities at China’s Central Party School, and stressed the importance of long-term national planning beyond electoral cycles.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has proposed five political corridors between the Communist Party of China and Pakistani political parties, including youth exchanges, to strengthen long-term partnership.

He was addressing the “Symposium on Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building” in Islamabad today.

The Planning Minister said Pakistan’s political parties can draw valuable lessons from the Communist Party of China’s emphasis on public service, self-reform, organisational discipline and long-term national planning.

Expressing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s commitment to strengthening these principles within Pakistan’s democratic framework, he stressed that national development plans must rise above electoral cycles.

Referring to “URAAN Pakistan and CPEC 2.0,” the Minister said the proposed political corridors will help complement five economic corridors. These include strategic dialogue, governance and development learning, youth and leadership development, cultural connectivity, and regional peace and cooperation.

He suggested reciprocal exchanges between young leaders of the Communist Party of China and Pakistani political parties, beginning with an initial cohort next year, including structured learning opportunities at China’s Central Party School.

Ahsan Iqbal congratulated President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China on the successful conclusion of the Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee.

He stressed that the true measure of leadership lies not merely in achievements during one’s tenure, but in the enduring institutions, policies and foundations it leaves for future generations.
