Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation for sustainable development and the preservation of their rivers. A cooperation agreement was signed, emphasizing collaboration on the Indus and Yangtze rivers to address challenges and opportunities related to river cultures, ecosystems, and economies. The Pakistan Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, highlighted the historical significance of rivers in civilization and human settlements. The Yangtze Culture Forum in Nanjing, jointly hosted by UNESCO and partners, brought together participants from around the world to discuss shared values and establish a global network for dialogue and collaboration among major river cities. The forum focused on the theme “Flowing Rivers, Converging Future,” addressing common global issues in river basins such as ecological conservation, economic development, and cultural preservation.
