Ambreen Shah talks about her experience as the VP of CPHGC
Ambreen Shah, Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs at China Power Hub Generation Company (Private) Ltd addressed the misconceptions and disinformation about projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at a recently held Summit in Islamabad. CPHGC is the executing company for the 1,320 MW coal-fired power plant in Hub in Balochistan. Ambreen Shah apprised the audience of the progress of the project. CPHGC is a joint venture of Chinese state owned company and a Pakistani company which is an example of successful cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani firms. She refuted the negative publicity in the news about the employment ratio on these projects and said that the project has employed 2,900 pakistani workers on the site and the number is rapidly increasing. Ambreen Shah working at CPHGC as a VP is evidence of the fact that the company is not hiring on the basis on nationality or gender rather on competence and merit.
Ambreen Shah acknowledged the fact that her company lacks social media presence and also confessed the importance of such platforms in today’s era. “There are no prisoners coming in from China, I haven’t met any at my company, site or the head office”, she said. The VP stated that the company has spent 20 percent more of the project cost to bring in super critical technology so that there is negligible environment damage. She maintained that sharing of information and transparency of projects in the key to success.
