BOI to facilitate NORINCO International to tap investment opportunities in Pakistan

NORINCO International presented its investment ideas in several areas in Pakistan during a “technical meeting” with the Board of Investment (BOI) Pakistan. It was a follow-up to the June 30 meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Mr. Wang Xiaobing, Vice President of NORINCO International. NORINCO announced its plans to invest in the mining, satellite navigation, optical fibre, Karachi Circular Railway, and renewable energy sectors. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) entrusted BOI to fully facilitate investment and ensure engagement with relevant stakeholders. The meeting was attended by SAPM Dr. Jehanzeb Khan, Secretary BOI Asad Rehman Khan and other senior government officials.

ISLAMABAD, Jul. 3 (Gwadar Pro) – A delegation of NORINCO International, during its “technical meeting” with Board of Investment (BOI) Pakistan on Saturday, presented its investment plans in various sectors in the country.
It was a follow-up of NORINCO International’s Vice President Mr. Wang Xiaobing’s meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif which was held on June 30.
“NORINCO introduced its plans for investing in Renewable Energy, Optical Fiber, Karachi Circular Railway, Satellite Navigation, and Mining Sectors. SAPM entrusted BOI to fully facilitate investment and ensure engagement with relevant stakeholders,” according to an official statement.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr. Jehanzeb Khan, Secretary BOI Asad Rehman Khan, Asim Ayub, Project Director, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Industrial Cooperation Development Project (CPEC-ICDP), Secretary Pakistan Railways Zafar Zaman Ranjha, JS (Power Division) and Chairman, National Telecommunication Corporation Miraj Gul.
Since the 1980s NORINCO has been doing business in Pakistan. In 2015 it diversified its operations by constructing Orange Line, which has been operating since October 2020. The Group came in contact with BOI during BOI’s CPEC B2B Investment Conference, Karachi held in March 2022. Since then, BOI has been actively engaged in facilitating NORINCO. It also facilitated NORINCO’s meeting with the PM and is now coordinating NORINCO’s investment endeavors across different ministries and departments in Pakistan.
