China continues to help Pakistan in fight against COVID-19
The Chinese government and people are committed to support Pakistan in combating Covid-19 as their top priority. In addition to state-level medical aid from China, the non-governmental organizations have donated medical goods and funds to help Pakistan combat COVID-19. The Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association (BGTEA) has started an initiative to accelerate medical supplies to Pakistan. Under this endeavour, Beijing Anngeen Technologies and Beijing Shenzhou Hanfang Pharmaceutical Technology have donated medical goods of worth more than Rs. 19.4 million. Meanwhile, Yutong, a Chinese bus company has gifted 50,000 surgical masks to the provincial transport administration in Lahore.
ISLAMABAD – China’s non-governmental associations have been on the forefront in supporting Pakistan to combat COVID-19, since the epidemic situation deteriorated.
In order to go through such a difficult time, a large number of Chinese non-government associations have donated funds and medical supplies spontaneously to Pakistan to fight the pandemic.
According to a Gwadar Pro report yesterday, Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association (BGTEA) last month had launched a series of activities to finance for Pakistan epidemic prevention.
Through BGTEA’s active endeavours, several medical companies donated supplies to Pakistan. Amidst them, Beijing Anngeen Technologies has donated 5000 COVID-19 test kits worth more than Rs. 18.4 million.
Besides, Beijing Shenzhou Hanfang Pharmaceutical Technology has donated 5 therapeutic apparatuses worth 1.5 million Yuan (more than Rs 34.5 million).
China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) has also given all-out support to Pakistan. According to CNIE’s report, there was a supplies handover ceremony held by this organization in Pakistan Embassy in China.
On this occasion, a batch of supplies including 300,000 surgical masks was received by Ambassador Naghmana Hashmi.
June 10, 2020: Provincial Transport Minister Jehanzeb Khan Khitchi met with GM Marketing Middle East Division of Yutong Bus Company Robin Shen who presented him 50,000 surgical masks, including N-95 masks on behalf of the bus company and China.
A five-member delegation headed by Robin Shen met with provincial transport minister. The minister thanked the Chinese company for presenting surgical masks to the transport sector and remarked that this gift would strengthen preventive measures of transport sector to curtail the spread of coronavirus. He commended that brotherly country China had always stood by Pakistan in every difficult time and need.
He complimented that the Punjab government held this cooperation of our Chinese brothers in high esteem.The minister paid rich tributes to the timely steps taken by China to effectively dealing with locusts and coronavirus problems. He said that passengers and the transport staff should ensure implementation of government SOPs regarding coronavirus.
The Chinese delegation acknowledged the steps taken by the Punjab government for effectively coping up with the pandemic. Secretary Transport Asad-ur-Rehman Gillani and high officials of transport department were also present on this occasion.The Chinese delegation members comprised of Senior Marketing Manager Stone He, Country Manager Paul Zhang and Sales Manager Ali Malik also participated in the meeting.
