China-Pakistan Exploring Ways to Advance Cotton Industry in Pakistan

China organized third Sino-Pak International Conference to boost and enable the cotton industry to produce more yield. Conference was held on Innovations in Cotton Breeding & Biotechnology in Xinjiang, China. Conference laid down many recommendations for modernizing cotton industry under CPEC. Experts and scholars on the cotton field expressed views and discussed topics such as cotton germplasm, transgenic cotton against insect and herbicide, transformation technology as well as the mechanized planting and picking of cotton. Initiatives, for instance, the third Sino-Pak conference is paving way for scientific cooperation in the agricultural sector between two countries and promoting the BRI vision. Conference was sponsored by the Biotechnology Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

BEIJING: The third Sino-Pak International Conference on Innovations in Cotton Breeding & Biotechnology concluded in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a number of recommendations giving boost to cotton industry under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), reports China Economic Net.

The conference attracted over 100 experts and scholars on cotton field. They made communication and discussions on related aspects, such as, cotton germplasm, transgenic cotton against insect and herbicide, transformation technology as well as the mechanized planting and picking of cotton.

The experts of both countries agreed the China-Pak Joint Laboratory for Cotton has made plentiful achievements after three years’ construction. They hope to further deepen cooperation field and will strive to promote the development of the two countries’ cotton industries.

The success holding of the third Sino-Pak International Conference on Innovations in Cotton Breeding & Biotechnology not only pushes ahead the sci-tech communication and cooperation in agriculture between the two nations, but also injects new vitality for the Belt and Road Initiative.

The third Sino-Pak International Conference was jointly sponsored by the Biotechnology Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
