China-Pakistan reaffirms commitment to security & defence cooperation

China-Pakistan, on the sidelines of Defence and Security Cooperation Conference at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Forum in Moscow, reaffirmed their commitment to ‘iron brotherhood’ and ‘all-weather’ friendship with continued efforts to strengthen bilateral strategic and defence ties for a shared future. During meeting, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza and Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe have discussed changing the geostrategic environment and further strengthening of security and defence cooperation between the two countries.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza met Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe on the side lines of Defence and Security Cooperation Conference at SCO Forum in Moscow.

“Changing geostrategic environment and further strengthening of security and defence cooperation between the two countries were discussed during the meeting,” a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ‘iron brotherhood’ and ‘all-weather’ friendship with continued efforts to forge deeper strategic ties for a shared future and security vision, it added.

On Saturday, General Nadeem had met General Valery V Gerasimov, Russian chief of general staff during his visit to Moscow.

The CJCSC is on a two-day official visit to Russia to attend Defence and Security Cooperation conference at SCO forum.

Matters of bilateral military cooperation and regional security dynamics between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

The Russian general lauded the professionalism of Pakistan armed forces and acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in fight against terrorism.

Since becoming an SCO member in 2017, Pakistan has been actively participating at all levels in various moots including foreign affairs, defence, national security, economy and trade, science and technology, youth and women empowerment, tourism and media.
