China, Pakistan review CPEC achievements over past decade
China and Pakistan officials convened in Beijing to assess the advancements made in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during the previous decade. The Special Joint Cooperation Committee discussed future prospects as well. Cong Liang, Vice Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, highlighted that Beijing has remained Pakistan’s leading trade partner for eight consecutive years. As a key initiative within the Belt and Road framework, the CPEC has achieved significant milestones in energy, transportation, and industrial collaboration, generating more than 230,000 job opportunities by the conclusion of 2022.
Officials from China and Pakistan at a meeting in Beijing have reviewed the progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor over the past decade.
Special Joint Cooperation Committee of both countries also looked in the future opportunities.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman National Development and Reform Commission of China Cong Liang said Beijing has been Pakistan’s largest trading partner for eight consecutive years.
As a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative, the CPEC projects energy, transportation, and industrial cooperation were completed and had created over 230,000 jobs by the end of 2022.
