The Chinese government provided $100,000 in emergency cash assistance to rain-affected areas in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, handed over by Ambassador Jiang Zaidong to Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Mohammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi. The donation ceremony emphasized China’s commitment to helping Pakistan during crises, with the embassy highlighting the significance of the aid and mentioning the distribution of water and food in Gwadar. Further assistance of RMB 500,000 from the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi is anticipated, supporting Pakistan’s recovery efforts following recent torrential rains.

The Chinese government extended on Thursday a helping hand to Pakistan by providing emergency cash assistance worth $100,000 for rain-affected regions in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

A donation ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saw Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong handing over the cash assistance to Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Mohammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi.

Expressing China’s commitment to aiding Pakistan in times of crisis, Ambassador Zaidong reiterated the importance of timely assistance for the affected populations.

The official statement released by the Chinese embassy highlighted the significance of this contribution in providing essential support to those in need.

Additionally, it emphasised the proactive role played by Chinese entities in Pakistan, including the distribution of 30,000 bottles of mineral water and 3,000 cans of food to the affected populace in Gwadar.

Moreover, efforts have been made to provide refuge to displaced individuals at the Gwadar Faqur School, a testament to the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan.

Looking ahead, the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi is set to provide further material assistance worth RMB 500,000 in the near future, underscoring the ongoing commitment to aiding Pakistan’s recovery efforts.

This assistance comes in the wake of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement of a relief package for those impacted by torrential rains earlier this month.
