China has emerged as the world’s leading food importer, with an anticipated $140 billion in food imports for 2023, according to the 2023 China Food Import Report unveiled at the China Import Food Summit. Hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce of I/E of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Product, the summit aligns with the 6th China International Import Expo’s theme of “Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.” The Chinese government, emphasizing the significance of the food and agricultural sector, prioritizes food safety while fostering international trade and adopting a diversified approach to agricultural imports.
