Chinese Company proposes to construct One Million houses under NPHP: Advisor to CM Punjab
The political advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Rafaqat Gilani said in a ceremony on Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP) that a Chinese company has offered to build one million houses in the next four years. A Chinese company has shown interest in building one million low-cost houses under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP). Rafaqat Gilani, the political advisor to CM Punjab, said this at an NPHP-related ceremony in Punjab.
He said that the development happened during his recent visit to China, third since assuming office in August last year.
During the visit, Khan spoke to Chinese investors and invited them to invest in the ambitious housing project. Responding to his offer, one of the companies expressed interest in building one million houses in the country in the next four years.
PM Khan has previously expressed the desire to utilize the experience and expertise of Chinese companies in building low-cost housing units.
Gilani said that the scheme will also be expanded to various parts of Punjab, where five and three Marla houses would be constructed. Moreover, the provincial government is also considering to construct high-rise buildings in major cities, including Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan, he added.
He noted that the government will welcome suggestions and technical support of the World Bank and other organizations regarding the construction of cost-effective homes.
The adviser to CM maintained that the provincial government made several changes in existing by-laws to make the project implementable.
