Chinese FM Wang Yi arrives in Islamabad to bolster strategic partnership

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for a three-day official visit aimed at reinforcing strategic, diplomatic, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Wang, a senior member of the Communist Party of China, was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with senior officials from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry and the Chinese Embassy. Children in traditional attire greeted the visiting dignitary with flowers.

This marks Wang Yi’s second visit to Pakistan in three years. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the trip will focus on strengthening strategic coordination, deepening regional and global cooperation, and expanding practical partnerships.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry described China-Pakistan relations as historic and ever-growing, calling the two nations “iron brothers” and close partners on key regional and international issues.

The visit follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s trip to China in June and President Asif Zardari’s visit to Beijing in February, underscoring the high-level engagement between the two allies.

Both sides remain committed to further consolidating their longstanding ties in the years ahead.
