CPEC to turn Gilgit into the prosperous region: Prime Minister Imran Khan
Prime Minister Imran Khan presiding a meeting in Gilgit said Gilgit Baltistan is blessed with a bundle of resources and government is planning to build small hydel projects in the area. PM Khan was apprised of CPEC projects finished in the region such as Gilgit-Shandur-Chitral road, 100-megawatt Gilgit hydel project, and 80-megawatt Phunder project. Prime Minister expressed views that under CPEC, Gilgit Baltistan will become prosperous and the region will undergo significant development.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that nature has blessed Gilgit-Baltistan with enormous resources, including tourism, which can be utilized for development of the region.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Gilgit on Friday, he urged Gilgit-Baltistan Government to plan for setting up of small hydel projects and assured that federal government will extend maximum help in this regard.
The Prime Minister was briefed about various projects being completed in Gilgit-Baltistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, including Gilgit-Shandur-Chitral road, 100 megawatt Gilgit hydel project, and 80 megawatt Phunder projects.
Imran Khan said this region will make marvelous progress due to CPEC projects.
He was told that 170 million plants were planted in Gilgit-Baltistan under Green Pakistan programme.
