CPFTA Phase II Catalyst for Socio-Economic Development in Pakistan: Yao Jing
The Chinese ambassador Yao Jing, during a meeting with Sardar Ahmad, secretary commerce, stressed on the vitality of Phase II of China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA) and extended all-out support of China in this regard. Sardar Ahmad termed the agreement a panacea for removing the communication gap prevalent in the business community. He hailed Chinese efforts to enhance the technical expertise of the young civil servants through a special technical assistance program.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Yao Jing called on Secretary Commerce Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera here at Ministry of Commerce Tuesday. The secretary commerce underscored that early operationalisation of the phase-II of China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA) is essential for the mutual benefit and productive outcome for both the countries. The secretary also urged the Chinese side to expedite the implementation process of CPFTA.
Sukhera also highlighted the importance of regional integration and suggested that both sides should work closely for effective implementation of the Quadrilateral Traffic in Transit Agreement (QTTA) by removing the bottlenecks and disseminating the information among the business community.
The ambassador assured full cooperation from the Chinese side regarding expediting the implementation process of the phase-II of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement.
The secretary commerce extended his gratitude to the ambassador for rolling out a special technical assistance programme for the young civil servants of the Commerce and Trade Group.
“The special technical assistance programme will help in capacity building of the officers to discharge their responsibilities as economic and trade officers in a befitting manner,” he added.
