Gwadar students begin advanced technical training in China under CPEC partnership

Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Gwadar students have reached China for advanced technical education. The first batch from University of Gwadar’s Technical and Vocational Institute arrived at Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology (SICT). They will complete the remaining one and a half years of their three-year diploma program there. This move aims to provide students with world-class skills and better career opportunities.

This educational milestone comes from a 2023 agreement between University of Gwadar, Gwadar Port Authority, China Overseas Ports Holding Company Limited (COPHCL), and SICT. The partnership focuses on improving technical education and human resource development under CPEC’s framework. This cooperation strengthens ties between Pakistan and China in education and trade.

Importantly, all student expenses are fully covered by University of Gwadar, Gwadar Port Authority, and COPHCL. This includes tuition fees, accommodation, and travel costs. Their support shows a strong commitment to empowering Gwadar’s youth through quality education and skill development.

The success of this project owes much to former Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Pasand Khan Baledi and University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abdul Razaq Sabir. Current Chairman Nor-ul-Haq Baloch and leaders from COPHCL and SICT also played vital roles. Executive Director of the technical institute, Professor Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, provided strong leadership throughout.

Overall, this achievement marks a proud moment for Gwadar. It opens doors for local students to gain international technical knowledge. The project lays a strong foundation for a skilled and prosperous future for the region.
