IGP Punjab assures full protection of Chinese nationals in Punjab
Inspector-General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani during a meeting with Chinese Consul General Mr. Long Dingbin at the Central Police Office assured him that Punjab police is providing security to Chinese nationals on a priority basis. He said that the Special Protection Unit and district police officers in different districts of the province also visit the CPEC working sites on a monthly basis to review the security arrangements. Mr. Long Dingbin expressed his satisfaction over the security arrangements and appreciated the role of Punjab police in this regard.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani said that the best security of Chinese experts, craftsmen, businessmen and citizens working on CPEC projects and visiting for various purposes in different districts of the province is one of the top priorities of Punjab Police.
He said that apart from the Special Protection Unit, district police officers in different districts of the province also visit the CPEC working sites on a monthly basis to review the security arrangements. Teams of special protection units are constantly being upgraded by providing modern equipment including speedy vehicles, bullet proof jackets, helmets so that they can perform their duties with full integrity and diligence. He expressed these views during a meeting with Chinese Consul General Mr. Long Dingbin at the Central Police Office here today. In the meeting along with Mr. Long Dingbin, Mr. Zhao Fushan was also in the delegation. During the meeting, issues of mutual interest including security of Chinese citizens in Punjab and mutual cooperation were discussed.
Expressing satisfaction over the efforts of Punjab Police in ensuring best arrangements for the security of Chinese nationals coming to Pakistan for CPEC projects, business and other matters, Chinese Consul General Long Dingbin said that the Special Protection Unit (SPU) has a duty to protect Chinese nationals by working diligently and responsibly while bilateral cooperation for providing modern resources and facilities to Punjab Police will be further enhanced in future.
During the meeting, IG Punjab further said that training programs are also underway under a comprehensive strategy to further enhance the capacity of the police force so that officers and officials in line with the principles of modern policing may counter challenges and serve in better way. Memorable souvenirs were also exchanged between IG Punjab and Chinese Consul General at the end of the meeting.
