Key Accomplishments of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Visit to China
- Khan’s Meetings with CEOs Top Chinese Investors and businessmen such as Long March Tyre Company, Gezhouba Group Cooperation (CGCC), Chairman China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC), and with Chairman of Board Orient Holdings Group Limited
- Khan highlighted new sectors for investment to Chinese leaders and investors. These sectors include railways, steel, oil and gas, cost-effective housing, oil and gas, coal and gold. Besides, PM Khan stressed on investments in five key sectors which are offering promising return, these sectors consist of textile, manufacturing, IT and financial services, physical and technological logistics, food processing and agriculture, tourism and hospitality.
- Imran Khan gave assurances to Chinese enterprises owners about the security situation in Pakistan. Khan told the firms that Pakistan has set up a separate security force for the protection of Chinese workers and people working on CPEC.
- PM Khan maintained a strong message that CPEC is neither abandoned nor slowed down through holding delegation meetings with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and President Xi Jinping
- Khan is lauded for gathering diplomatic support from China on Kashmir
- Pakistan Government illustrated a close bond of friendship through its high-level civil-military meetings with the top Chinese leadership
- Both countries agreed to implement the second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement
- Minister for Railways successfully negotiated ML-1 Railway project financing
- China and Pakistan signed many significant MoUs on development of Gwadar port, and Desalination water plant in Gwadar, the establishment of 5th Confucius Institute at University of Sargodha (UoS), building smart classrooms at various universities were among several MoUs.
- Chinese Premier called Pakistan the core of China’s national interest.
- President Xi reaffirmed China’s firm support to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as on all issues of Pakistan’s core national interest. President Xi termed Sino-Pak relationship as rock-solid and unbreakable, and their bond would deepen and broaden in future.
- In Khan’s meeting with Chairman National People’s Congress (NPC) Mr Li Zhanshu, he sought Chinese cooperation in agriculture and Artificial Intelligence sectors. Chairman NPC encouraged to expand CPEC cooperation and invited to submit more proposals for various new projects.
