Maryam Nawaz invites Chinese investors to explore technology opportunities in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said Pakistan and China are looking to take their long-standing friendship into a new phase driven by data, technology and innovation, as she invited Chinese investors to explore investment opportunities in Punjab.

Addressing the International Big Data Expo in Beijing, Maryam Nawaz described the Pakistan-China relationship as a time-tested partnership founded on mutual respect. She encouraged Chinese businesses and investors to take advantage of the growing opportunities available in Punjab.

The chief minister said the Punjab government was working to accelerate digital transformation and develop the province into a centre for modern technology and the digital economy.

She said young people in Punjab were being provided with modern technological education and skills to prepare them for future challenges. According to her, the digital revolution was transforming economies around the world and offered significant potential for creating new employment opportunities.

Maryam Nawaz said artificial intelligence and big data would play a key role in shaping future development. She added that the Punjab government was already using AI in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture and public administration.

The chief minister said China’s remarkable progress in the digital sector provided valuable lessons for Pakistan. She particularly appreciated the technological development taking place in Guizhou and said Pakistan wanted to expand cooperation with China in digital technology and related fields.

Earlier, Maryam Nawaz met He Zhongyou, the Communist Party secretary in Beijing, where the two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation.

She said Punjab offered considerable investment potential in technology, the digital economy, artificial intelligence and agriculture. She added that the province was going through major developments in its agricultural sector while continuing to play a central role in meeting Pakistan’s food requirements.

Maryam Nawaz urged Chinese investors to benefit from Punjab’s investment potential and become part of the province’s ongoing transformation in technology and agriculture.
