MoU signed for China-Pakistan Joint Business and Investment Committee Between FPCCI And CCIIP

Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Senior Vice President of FPCCI (Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry), led a five members' delegation to attend the International Investment Forum organized by China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP). The forum was at Xiamen city of Chinese province Fujian for three days between 7-10 September. Many high-level transnational dignitaries addressed the gathering. FPCCI delegation attended the China-Pakistan Investment Cooperation seminar. In the seminar, Dr Baig highlighted the prospects of business in SEZs in Pakistan. Dr Baig, Senior VP FPCCI and Liu Zuozhang, Executive VP and Secretary-General of CCIIP, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for opening a China-Pakistan Joint Business and Investment Committee. Consul General Pakistan, Dr Diyar Khan, and President CCIIP Madame Ma Xiuhong were among witnesses.

KARACHI: A five member FPCCI delegation led by Dr. Mirza Ikhiar Baig, Senior Vice President FPCCI, attended the Int’l Investment Forum organized by the China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP) from September 7-10, 2019 at Xiamen, China.

Dr. Baig participated in the panel discussion at the investment forum attended by former Prime Minister of Egypt Prof. Dr. Essam Abdel Aziz Sharaf, former German Defense Minister Rudolf Albert Scharping, former Secretary Commerce US Carlos Gutierrez, deputy prime minister of Serbia Rasim Ljajic and president CCIIP Madame Ma Xiuhong on the uncertainties of world’s economy such as the fate of Brexit, Sino-US trade war, falling oil prices and instability of international currencies. He said major economies must resolve trade war to avoid economic recession.

Baig and the FPCCI delegation also attended the China-Pakistan Investment Cooperation seminar where he highlighted the investment opportunities in SEZs in Pakistan. An MoU was signed by Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, leader of the Pakistani delegation, and Liu Zuozhang, EVP and Sec. Gen of CCIIP, for establishing the China-Pakistan Joint Business and Investment Committee. It was witnessed by Consul General of Pakistan Dr. Diyar Khan, President CCIIP Madame Ma Xiuhong, Zubair Tufail, Anwar Qureshi, Malik Sohail Hussain and Mahmood Ahmed.
