Nationwide photography competition launched to showcase BRI, CPEC projects in Pakistan

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Pakistan-China Institute (PCI), has initiated a nationwide photography competition aimed at showcasing the progress of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a key project within China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The competition, titled “Nationwide Best Belt & Road Initiative Projects Photography Competition,” seeks to capture the essence and impact of CPEC and other BRI projects in Pakistan. Secretary Information and Broadcasting Zahoor Ahmed lauded the initiative, emphasizing its potential to strengthen the close ties between Pakistan and China. Entries can be submitted until October 7, with winners announced on October 10, followed by a prize distribution ceremony and exhibition on October 12, 2023. PCI will also organize a trip to China for award winners.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP): Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) have launched a nationwide photography competition, to showcase the progress of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Secretary Information and Broadcasting Zahoor Ahmed chaired a meeting here on Monday to review arrangements for the “Nationwide Best Belt & Road Initiative Projects Photography Competition”, which was intended to capture the essence and impact of CPEC and other BRI projects in Pakistan.

Besides the Head of PCI, Mustafa Syed, the meeting was attended by Executive Director General / Principal Information Officer (PIO) Muhammad Asim Khichi, Director General External Publicity Wing Ms. Ambreen Jan, Deputy Director General, PID, Raisa Adil and other senior officers from the ministry and its attached departments.

Secretary Information and Broadcasting Zahoor Ahmed appreciated the PCI for initiating and proposing the photography competition and said that besides highlighting the CPEC and BRI projects, it will also help further strengthen the close and deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China.

He said Pakistan was really appreciative of CPEC and the meaningful Pakistan-China partnership, under which various important projects including in the areas of road infrastructure, railways, energy etc. were completed for mutual benefit.

Secretary Information and Broadcasting assured PCI of all out cooperation and directed the Ministry’s attached departments including PTV, Radio Pakistan, APP, PID, EP Wing, IP Wing, DEMP and others to do all in making the photography competition a success by using their multi-media platforms.

Mustafa Syed, Head of PCI, briefed the meeting about aims and objectives of the nationwide photography competition, its procedure and timeline.

According to the timeline, photos relating to CPEC and BRI projects in Pakistan in the categories of “Infrastructure and Development; People and Stories; and Environmental Impact” can be submitted by October 07, and the winners will be announced on October 10, after judged by a panel of renowned photographers, artists and relevant government bodies on 0ctober 08-09.

The prize distribution ceremony and exhibition, to be co-hosted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Pakistan-China Institute will be held on October 12, 2023 and will be attended by dignitaries, officials and media.

The meeting was told that Pakistan-China Institute, a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-political think-tank which endeavors to promote people to people ties between Pakistan and China, will also organize a trip to China for award winners by developing a detailed itinerary and coordinating all travel logistics.
