Pak-China cooperation reaching new heights with fast-tracked CPEC projects: PM Shehbaz Sharif
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said implementation on the second phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is continuing at a fast pace.
He was talking to a seven-member delegation of journalists, who returned to Pakistan after visiting China on the invitation of China Public Diplomacy Association, in Lahore today.
The Prime Minister said he is personally monitoring the progress on Memorandums of Understanding and agreements reached with China, after his recent visit to Beijing.
He said after a recent visit of Chinese experts to Pakistan, a significant progress has been noted on the bilateral cooperation in various fields. He said all possible measures are being taken to ensure security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
Shehbaz Sharif said there should be no politics on the longstanding relationship with friendly country like China.
The Prime Minister said China has always supported Pakistan in difficult times. He said all stakeholders need to work together on development projects of national importance like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor by putting aside party politics.
Shehbaz Sharif said he had a personal commitment to focus all his energy on Pakistan’s development, whenever the nation provided an opportunity to serve the country.
He also expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership and the people for giving him warm hospitality.
The delegation, which includes Salman Ghani and Amir Mir of Duniya News, Sheraz Hassan of Hum News, Khizar Hayat of the Jang, Khalid Hassnain of Dawn News, Azam Malik of Geo News, and Matiur Reham of Pakistan Television, apprised the Prime Minister of its experiences and views on Pakistan-China relations, during the visit.
They commended the pro-business and investment policies of the government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership.
The delegation said the Chinese side expressed complete satisfaction over government measures on China’s investment, especially the pace of work on CPEC and completion of projects. It said Chinese officials time and again mentioned the “Shehbaz Speed” and appreciated the reform initiatives of the Prime Minister.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar was also present on the occasion.
