Pakistan can achieve fast-track transformation in agriculture through Chinese partnership: PM Shehbaz Sharif
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has vast untapped potential in agriculture and can rapidly transform the sector by adopting modern technologies, improving productivity, and deepening cooperation with China. Addressing the Pakistan–China Agri Investment Conference, he emphasized boosting per-acre yields, value addition, and export competitiveness, highlighting China’s continued support through expertise and technology, including training Pakistani graduates in Chinese institutions. He also pointed to improving economic indicators, reaffirmed hopes for President Xi Jinping’s visit, and described CPEC 2.0 as a new phase focused on agriculture, IT, AI, and youth development. Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic recovery and said China aimed to expand bilateral agricultural trade to $1 billion while supporting technology-driven growth and a trade surplus for Pakistan.
