Pakistan-China set to accelerate trade via old silk route across the Karakorams
A group of Chinese trade experts visited Pakistan to promote the bilateral trade across the Karakorams. The Chinese trade delegation and Pakistan officials, during a three-day dialogue, reviewed the current trade volume and discussed new proposals for the inclusion of more commodities for exchange under the border trade agreement. The Chinese delegation also visited Gilgit Baltistan (GB) markets to explore the bilateral trade opportunities.
ISLAMABAD: The three-day talks between the visiting four-member Chinese trade delegation and Pakistan officials on the development of further trade between the two countries through the centuries old silk route across the Karakorams concluded here today [May 18].
During the course of talks both the sides reviewed the present quantum of trade and also considered fresh proposals for the inclusion of more commodities for exchange under the existing border trade agreement.
The Chinese delegation, which is being led by Mr Lien Cheng Hsien, a member of the Revolutionary Committee of Sinkiang Uigur autonomous region, later flew to Gilgit to make on the spot survey of the Gilgit market. The idea is to see as to which commodity can be included in the list for import and exporting from Pakistan. — Agency
