Pakistan Independence Day celebrated at Sahiwal coal power plant

Employees of the 1320 MW Coal-Fired Power Plant in Sahiwal, both Chinese and Pakistani, enthusiastically celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day. Organized by Huaneng Shandong Ruyi Pakistan Pvt. Limited, the event featured a flag-raising ceremony and a cake-cutting, highlighting the strong bond between the two nations. The celebration emphasized mutual respect and patriotism, with company President Mr. Xu congratulating Pakistani employees and stressing daily commitment to excellence. The plant, a key project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has significantly contributed to local employment and education, benefitting the community through job creation and vocational training opportunities.

SAHIWAL, Aug 15 (Gwadar Pro) – The Chinese and Pakistani employees of the 1320 MW Coal Fired Power Plant (CFPP) in Sahiwal celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with great enthusiasm. Organized by Huaneng Shandong Ruyi Pakistan Pvt. Limited, a series of vibrant activities on Wednesday showcased the strong bond between the two nations.

The day began with a traditional flag-raising ceremony, a deeply significant moment for the Pakistani employees that also underscored the respect and recognition the Chinese colleagues have for Pakistan’s sovereignty and history.

The event saw the participation of all staff members, including key management figures. The presence of the entire workforce underscored the collective spirit and mutual respect that characterize the working environment at Huaneng Shandong Ruyi Pakistan.

In his speech, Mr. Xu, the company’s President, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Pakistani employees on the occasion of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day. He emphasized the importance of patriotism, not just on national holidays but as a daily commitment to excellence and integrity.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, a cake-cutting ceremony was also held, presenting a joyful and symbolic celebration of the day. The cake was adorned with Pakistani flags and symbols.

The Sahiwal Coal Power Plant has been a significant source of employment for the local community. During its construction phase, it provided direct jobs to over 3,000 locals, including engineers, technicians, supervisors, and laborers. Even after becoming operational, the plant continues to employ more than 1,500 local staff and suppliers.

The project is one of the major projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The power plant also has a well-developed, clean, and green vocational and technical college  Huaneng Pakistan Vocational and Technical College (HPVTC), bringing substantial benefits to local students by providing access to specialized education, opening up career opportunities, and fostering economic growth within the community.
