Pakistan Secures $7.5M Beef Export Order to China Under CPEC Framework
Pakistan has clinched a $7.5 million beef export deal with China, marking a major breakthrough in expanding its halal meat exports under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The deal highlights China’s rising demand for halal protein products and Pakistan’s growing role as a trusted supplier.
ISLAMABAD – In a significant boost to Pakistan’s meat export industry, The Organic Meat Company (TOMCL) has confirmed securing a $7.5 million beef export order from China, a milestone achieved under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The company announced to the Pakistan Stock Exchange that it will fulfill the order during the 2025–26 fiscal year, supplying cooked, frozen, and boneless beef from Pakistan. TOMCL emphasized that the meat will adhere to international food safety and halal certification standards, ensuring premium quality for Chinese consumers.
This agreement comes as China experiences a surge in demand for halal-certified meat and protein products, presenting Pakistan with new opportunities to strengthen its foothold in East Asia. Industry experts have hailed this development as a “major breakthrough,” underscoring Pakistan’s ability to compete with global meat exporters such as Australia and Brazil.
A senior government official lauded the deal as “another successful effort by Pakistan to achieve new export targets and meet China’s growing demand.”
Economic analysts predict that the agreement will positively impact Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and enhance investor confidence in the country’s agri-food sector. Pakistan already exports meat to several countries in the Middle East and South Asia, and entry into the Chinese market gives it access to the world’s largest consumer base.
Shipments are expected to begin within the current fiscal year, with the potential for additional orders based on performance and market demand.
This landmark deal reflects not only an economic opportunity but also a strategic success under CPEC, further strengthening the economic partnership between Pakistan and China.
