Pakistan Stresses Peace, Dialogue in SCO Security Talks as NSA Visits Beijing

Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, Lt. Gen. Muhammad Asim Malik, is on an official visit to China where he attended the SCO Security Council Secretaries’ meeting in Beijing. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security and held high-level meetings with Chinese officials to deepen bilateral security cooperation. Both sides agreed to strengthen strategic coordination and promote regional stability under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization framework.

BEIJING – Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, is currently on an official visit to China, where he participated in the meeting of Secretaries of the Security Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

During the session, Lt. Gen. Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance on global peace, regional stability, and security, especially in light of today’s rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape. He reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing commitment to playing a constructive role in fostering peace and cooperation within the broader SCO region.

In his address, the National Security Adviser underscored Pakistan’s vision of peaceful coexistence, stressing the country’s desire to resolve disputes through dialogue and build trust among regional partners. He emphasized that collective security and strategic cooperation remain key pillars for addressing common challenges such as terrorism, extremism, and transnational threats.

On the sidelines of the SCO meeting, Lt. Gen. Asim Malik held important bilateral meetings with Chinese leadership, focusing on enhancing strategic coordination, intelligence-sharing, and security cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen ties in counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and regional peacekeeping under the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Officials noted that the visit reflects mutual confidence and strategic alignment between Pakistan and China, particularly in safeguarding regional peace and stability. The two sides agreed to remain closely engaged on all matters of regional and global security under the umbrella of the Belt and Road Initiative and the SCO framework.

This high-level engagement comes at a time when regional security dynamics demand closer coordination among like-minded partners. Pakistan’s active participation in the SCO’s security agenda reaffirms its proactive approach to multilateral diplomacy and regional integration.
