Pakistan’s Knitwear Exports to China Jump 11% in Early 2025

Pakistan’s exports of knitted and crocheted apparel to China rose by 11% in the first five months of 2025, reaching $4.30 million. This growth, up from $3.87 million in the same period last year, reflects Pakistan’s expanding footprint in China’s competitive apparel market, particularly in the mid-range and winterwear segments. The rise is attributed to better production capacity, improved compliance with Chinese standards, and upgraded dyeing and finishing techniques.

BEIJING – July 1:
Pakistan’s exports of knitted and crocheted garments to China, including jerseys, pullovers, cardigans, and waistcoats, have registered an 11% increase in the first five months of 2025, according to the latest data released by China Customs.

The exports reached $4.30 million, up from $3.87 million during the same period last year. This upward trend reflects Pakistan’s growing presence in China’s competitive apparel market, particularly in the mid-range and winterwear segments.

The growth is being seen as a result of enhanced cotton-blended knitwear production capacity in Pakistan, coupled with better compliance with Chinese quality, safety, and certification standards.

“Pakistani exporters have significantly upgraded their production processes, especially in dyeing and finishing,” said Mohammad Azhar, a Lahore-based trade expert. “These improvements have helped align Pakistani products with the Chinese market’s demand for comfort, durability, and design in winter clothing.”

The increase in exports comes amid stronger economic ties under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and shifting sourcing trends in the Chinese market, where buyers are increasingly exploring cost-effective and quality alternatives to traditional suppliers.

Industry insiders remain optimistic that with continued investment in textile infrastructure and closer cooperation between Pakistani manufacturers and Chinese importers, this positive trajectory will continue throughout 2025.
