PM Khan terms CPEC as socio-economic savior for Pakistan
On the sideline of World Economic Forum 2020, Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was questioned about the China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Prime Minister candidly said that we are grateful to China for saving Pakistan in the time of economic crisis. China has rescued the bleak economy of Pakistan. Responding to the CPEC a debt trap speculations, the Prime Minister mentioned that CPEC only accounts five to six per cent of Pakistan’s total foreign debt. It is unsubstantial to call CPEC a debt trap because the foreign investors have been attracted towards Pakistan after China launched its investment in CPEC linked projects.
The PM further highlighted that special concessions are offered to the investors and industries under the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) of CPEC. Applauding Chinese advancement in the field of agriculture and information technology, he underlined China would help Pakistan in technological and agriculture development under the CPEC. He expressed his gratitude to China for setting up training centres for the human resource development in Pakistan.
