PM Khan to visit Gwadar today

Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Gwadar today to sign various MoUs, including 1.2 MGD desalination plant and solar generators grant for Balochistan. He will be accompanied by key federal ministers and advisors. PM Khan will also lay the foundation for various projects such as North Gwadar Free Zones, enterprises in Gwadar Free Zone, Gwadar expo building and other factories, and meet with local populace. Moreover, Chinese investors and ambassadors of Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Kenya and Qatar will also be present for investment prospects. Earlier, PM Khan said projects under the BRI have made important and major progress in infrastructure, energy, ports, and industrial parks.

ISLAMABAD   –   Prime Minister Imran Khan will pay a day-long visit to Gwadar today to oversee signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and to lay the foundation stone of a couple of mega projects.

During the visit, the Prime Minister accompanies by key federal ministers and advisors is expected to witness the signing of a number of MoUs including implementation agreement 1.2 MGD desalination plant and solar generators grant for Balochistan. The prime minister will also oversee the agreement of a grant from China for a solar generator in South Balochistan.

The prime minister would also be briefed on the ongoing development projects in the area where he is expected to interact with the authorities concerned and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) workforce. He would also perform ground breaking of North Gwadar Free Zones, enterprises in Gwadar Free Zone, Gwadar expo building and other factories. The prime minister will also address a ceremony and interact with the local populace.

Through video links, it is also expected that expression of commitment for investment in Gwadar would be made by the Chinese investors and by the ambassadors of Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Kenya and Qatar. In May last, the prime minister had said Pakistan placed the highest priority to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and gave a firm commitment to expeditiously complete its projects, which would open up tremendous opportunities for increased economic growth and development in the region and beyond. The premier’s comments, according to the PM’s Office, came during a meeting between him and China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong in Islamabad. The Pakistan-China bilateral relations, including CPEC, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, vaccine cooperation, and high-level bilateral exchanges were discussed during the meeting. “The CPEC as pioneering projects of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has made important and major progress in infrastructure, energy, ports, and industrial parks,” said PM Khan.

Also, Prime Minister Imran Khan has termed overseas Pakistanis as the biggest asset of the country. He was speaking virtually at the annual convention of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America last night. The Prime Minister invited the Association to contribute more proactively to improve Pakistan’s health system. He described the APPNA as most influential organization. The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan and Governor State Bank of Pakistan Raza Baqir also addressed the event.
