PM Shehbaz Sharif invites Chinese investors to set up industries in Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Chinese investors to establish industries in Pakistan, emphasizing China’s vital role in Pakistan’s economic development. In a high-level review meeting, he highlighted the importance of cooperation in agriculture, IT, and energy, aiming to boost Pakistani exports to China. He assured comprehensive security for Chinese residents and outlined plans for the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), including developing Gwadar port and establishing Agriculture Demonstration Zones. Ministries were directed to prepare new projects to enhance business ties and ensure the successful implementation of joint initiatives.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, assuring all-out facilitation by his government, invited Chinese companies, particularly those in the textile sector, to establish their industry in Pakistan.

The prime minister, chairing a meeting to discuss the promotion of Pakistan-China cooperation, highlighted that China is a key partner in Pakistan’s development. Pakistan aims to enhance cooperation with China in agriculture, information technology, and energy, in addition to increasing its exports to China.

In the meeting, various ministries presented their proposals to promote the Pakistan-China economic relationship, according to a PM Office press release.

The prime minister reiterated that the government would provide fool-proof security to Chinese nationals working in Pakistan, as a comprehensive security plan had already been formulated. He informed the participants that the government was preparing for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and expressed hope that with China’s cooperation, Gwadar Port would become a logistics hub.

PM Sharif said that CPEC’s second phase would also feature the establishment of Agriculture Demonstration Zones, and instructed the ministries to prepare for the launch of new projects with Chinese cooperation and enhanced business-to-business linkages. He noted that China could also assist Pakistan in formulating a strategy to boost its exports.

Several ministers, special assistant to the PM, deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, and other senior officers attended the meeting.
