President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed that Pakistan-China relations remain unshakable and that hostile elements and spoilers will never succeed in undermining this enduring partnership.
The President made these remarks during a meeting with Chen Jining, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shanghai, on Tuesday. He emphasized that the bilateral friendship between Pakistan and China will continue to grow stronger from generation to generation.
Chen Jining warmly welcomed President Zardari, recalling his productive meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier this year and the recent visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister to China. He noted that both countries look forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year, further cementing their strategic partnership.
Briefing the President on Shanghai’s development, Chen Jining said the city has transformed from a manufacturing hub into a major center for the service industry, with significant investments in healthcare and education leading to higher life expectancy. He also highlighted Shanghai’s cultural vibrancy, noting that the city hosts over 9,000 coffee shops, the largest number in any city worldwide.
The meeting also explored opportunities for industrial collaboration in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones and Gwadar Free Zone, with a focus on technology, IT, artificial intelligence, and innovation.
First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari accompanied the President. Later, Chen Jining hosted a dinner in honor of the President and his delegation.
