Work continuing vigorously in Punjab on CPEC projects: Shehbaz
Lahore—Chinese Consul General Yu Boren called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Saturday.
They disused matters relating to promotion of cooperation in various sectors and progress of projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Chief Minister said CPEC is a great gift of China to Pakistan and it can never be forgotten by Pakistani nation. He said that work is continuing vigorously throughout the province on CPEC projects. Shehbaz Sharif said that CPEC is a guarantee to development and prosperity of Pakistan.
He said a new era of progress will usher in the region with the completion of CPEC projects. Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Consul General Yu Boren said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set a record of completion of development projects with speed and standard and under his leadership, Punjab government has ensured timely completion of development projects which is appreciable.
He said that saving of 215 billion rupees in development projects is an excellent achievement upon which Shehbaz Sharif should be congratulated.
Meanwhile, presiding over a high level meeting to review the pace of reforms programme for the promotion of quality education in the province Shehbaz Sharif said that achievement of educational targets is the priority of the government. He said that there is a need for hard work and commitment for achieving the goal of promotion of quality education and the targets fixed in education sector. He said that primary education has a fundamental importance in the uplift of education sector and promotion of quality education.
He said that high schools for girls will be set up in all union councils of Punjab and the existing middle schools in union councils will be upgraded to high school level.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme of e-learning. He said that girl and boy students of 6th and 9th grade of government schools besides teachers of science and mathematics will be given tablets.
The meeting which lasted for four hours decided to increase the amount of scholarship for girl students of 6th grade in the districts of south Punjab however, this sum will be linked with the attendance of the students.
Shehbaz Sharif directed that special attention should also be paid to the construction of additional classrooms in primary schools and provision of teachers. He said that availability of teachers will be ensured in schools at any cost.
He directed that residents of the villages should be recruited while making recruitment for new teachers and the policy in this regard should be given final shape as early as possible.
He said that the process of recruitment should be completed speedily so as to overcome the shortage of teachers in primary schools.
